My older brother, Michael R. Green, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 69 late last week. This is a huge loss -- for his wife Maria, for UMass Chan Medical School, for me, for science.

UMass Chan Medical School HHMI National Academy of Sciences National Academies AAAS @WUSTL He was one of those molecular biologists who had reservations about the Human Genome Project. He was bothered that I was going to “waste my career” on it. He feared I was killing my research career with the HGP!

UMass Chan Medical School HHMI National Academy of Sciences National Academies AAAS @WUSTL He eventually softened on genomics. He became a major practitioner of genomics. He softened on the value of taking on scientific leadership positions. He was fun to see him flip his attitudes about things he once criticized me for!

UMass Chan Medical School HHMI National Academy of Sciences National Academies AAAS @WUSTL I honestly believe that he had 20 more years of good science in him. He even just submitted an NIH grant proposal last week! He inspired me to be a nice person, but he inspired me in many other ways as well -- to work hard and to think hard.

Through tirelessly efforts, our graduate student Chen-I Hsu 許振翊 published a manuscript in STAR Protocols to reconstitute enzymatic activities for ultra-large (>300kDa) histone methyltransferases NSD1 and SETD2. To our best knowledge, this is the first time their full-length forms
