Definitely refreshed after talking to Nina Yang about how to be a more organized and productive grad student, and also how to keep a okay sanity level as working from home and working alone😂 Kinda made my day that I'm not as stupid as I thought LOL

Anyway I don't think I can hold my students' full attention >35mins in an boring online bio-lab section(never thought "virtual" and "lab" can be used together), but when I finish the lecture in <30mins...I feel so insecure and uncertain if I went toooo fast lol Teaching is HARD

Some papers could really give you an idea about what you should NEVER do when making figures and tables e.g. use a million different shades of blue in one plot where circle sizes are soooo similar yet differently indicating numbers🙄

When you suddenly realize you missed the time for zoom office hour, and then realize no student showed up at all (otherwise there shouldve been email notifications....) Very, very mixed feelings-but anyway one more hour of MY OWN TIME🤪

If this new rule comes true, there could be numbers of new PhD students coming here with their passion and dream, but have no idea if they can get their non-immigrant status extended at the 2/4 year of their study--that is to say, anyone could be expelled at their 2nd/4th year.

Back in 2016 my English listening level didn't allow me to watch the debate, so tonight really was the first time me watching one. That was really a SHOCK because I found my listening skill is even capable of listening to 2-3 people speak AT THE SAME TIME.

What I'm feeling now is most probably the imposter syndrome, or maybe it's not a syndrome but brutal truth🙃 Sometimes I can convince myself that I'm doing everything in a second language and I can be better than what I am showing, but I guess today is not one of the 'sometimes'

Can't wait to see what lab reports I'll receive from my students...I hope I explained well so they do excellent works; But everyone warned me to be prepared to see frustrating things… I'll be drown in emails of questions that for sure anyway🙃
