Thanks Stroke Association for the invite to attend the launch UK House of Commons of the new report: ‘Unlocking Potential: a bold vision for stroke care in England’, mapping important priorities in stroke care for the next 10 years. Expertly introduced by Juliet Bouverie OBE

Yesterday the Leng review came to Derriford (Plymouth) to hear all sides of the issue surrounding PAs in the NHS. Derriford is well known for employing a high number of PAs and so it makes sense for them to visit. The review is meant to be unbiased and fair.

A similar story when the Leng Review visited UHB last month. Every PA in the trust was formally invited. Yet when it came to Resident Doctor representation, I was one of only two in attendance, having found out via word and mouth the day before the visit.

What better way to break my last fast than do it at the iconic Sheikh Zayed mosque. Very well organised Iftar for thousands of people very impressive. Eid Mubarak everyone 😃

Truly sad. There are so many examples I can quote from my time in the NHS too. The issue is the people who work in the NHS (no matter how they may be in real life) are nasty to each other at work and that doesn’t help.

As a professor of primary care, GP and a medical educator, I am trying to understand why it is possible for a physician assistant with two years training to see undifferentiated patients in general practice but a highly experienced doctor who is not trained as a GP cannot?

Asking for advice from any resident Drs I start FY1 this August & have heard lots of horror stories about getting calls/messages etc. when off work What’s the best way to handle this? Did you buy a work phone? Is there a way of having 2 WhatsApp accounts on one phone? TIA!
