Had a deeply encouraging discussion today w/ a younger man who has been in/around our church for about a yr as a curious but admitted unbeliever. He shared that he has recently come to faith in Christ and wants to be baptized! This is the good stuff of ministry. Glory to God!

"The saint meets with troubles as well as the wicked, but he is soon out of the rain shower; when death comes, he has fair weather; but as for the wicked, the further he goes the worse. What he meets with here is but a few drops; the great storm is the last." | William Gurnall

“The Son of God descended miraculously from heaven, yet without abandoning heaven; was pleased to be conceived miraculously in the Virgin’s womb, to live on the earth, and hang upon the cross, and yet always filled the world as from the beginning.” (John Calvin)

Grateful for the privilege of serving with these brothers as fellow pastors in our local church. And for the friendship and support of our wives, who love us well. God is good.

"He that is God can no more cease to be God, by any act of his own, or act upon him, than he that is not God can become God by any act of his own, or any act upon him. Christ could not cease to be God, — no more than a worm can make itself God." (John Owen)

"There is therefore no reason for us to be grieved, or to think it hard and grievous, that we are afflicted ... unless we are unwilling to bear the image of the Son of God, by which we are to be prepared for celestial glory." (John Calvin)

“Either directly or indirectly, every providence (of God) has a tendency to the spiritual good of those that love God, breaking them off from sin, bringing them nearer to God, weaning them from the world, fitting them for heaven.” (Matthew Henry)
