In our latest podcast, we hear from families who lost loved ones to the Osprey & experts. We explore the meaning behind "pilot error" — a common conclusion leveled by investigations in the wake of tragedy. It’s more complex than the term connotes. military.com/air-force/2024…

NEW: For months I’ve been reporting on the New Hampshire National Guard, which current/former members say is plagued by toxicity, sexual assault and harassment, and retaliation. All of it exemplified, they said, in one recent case at the southern border. cnn.com/2024/09/13/pol…

Scoop: The Army is looking to cut the ROTC scholarship budget by $100 million over 4 years amid an over saturation of new lieutenants. military.com/daily-news/202…

Really important story from Patricia Kime on veterans repeatedly having mental health appointments cancelled often with no warning in what appears to be a broader pattern across the VA. military.com/daily-news/202…

So this article has seen a sudden spike in readership on our site the last few days. Konstantin Toropin spent months over the summer getting answers about how the military would handle potentially illegal orders. You should read it military.com/daily-news/202…

Steve's right, and it's why these are the issues we mostly cover (including great reporting from Steve). That said, I do recall traveling with Ash Carter years ago and an 18-year-old doing training at Fort Leonard Wood broke into tears at being asked a question by the SecDef.

Leo Shane III (@leoshane) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is a ridiculous and intentional misinterpretation of Patricia’s story. She accurately reports that rumors were circulating about DOGE involvement at VA and then sets the record straight. Sec Collins decided to attack one word in the story for unclear reasons.

Zachary Fryer-Biggs (@zachfb) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Mr. Secretary – You willfully misrepresented what was in that story, one where your own press office confirmed the details, and was quoted. Patricia is not going to be distracted by this nonsense, she’s going to continue doing the important reporting she’s done for years.

Haley Britzky (@halbritz) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is a, frankly, laughable way to speak to someone like Patricia Kime who has been tirelessly covering the military and veterans for YEARS. You’ll be hard-pressed to find more of a pro who cares as much as she does. The work she has done is completely indispensable.
