Yes, legally binding was not on the table in Paris. But how long do you let (big) players into your tent to set a low bar that becomes a ceiling, or the norm? Or do you create a platform where you can’t be inside the tent p…..g in? Legally binding or not.

Sorry be so cynical, but suprised to see some people I REALLY respect claimed victory over an announcement that we need to phase-out fossil fuels, in the energy sector, after 30 years of climate negotiations. How else were we thinking to get there? And when? CoP 56?

I once had a brilliant, humorous and astute colleague, who suggested that climate change can be prevented (he probably meant limited) by sacrificing a goat. His theory has never been tested. I fear the time has come. We are beyond scepticisme and pickiness.

Maybe the EU should freeze Israeli assets and use the profit to pay for humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in Gaza. Just follow the example set with Russian assets for Ukraine.

Not sure (Stiell) finance is the great enabler for climate action. More the will to use it for the right not the wrong. That means not running climate into the ground at someone else’s expense.

Some Japanese hotels have discovered eco cleaning: not cleaning your room/intermittent cleaning. Instead you get amenities wrapped in a jaw-dropping amount of plastic waste 😉

#BBC: I don’t think you can expect the Azeri government to put aside their national interests because of a climate conference. You can expect them to not mix-up those interests with their role as independent chair.
