A 15-year-old girl p/w fever & sore throat. She had recently gone to an outdoor music festival & shared multiple drinks & cigarettes w/ friends, who had similar symptoms. No hx of cough. Exam w/palatial petechiae. Smear w/atypical lymphocytes. What is the likely diagnosis? #MedEd

Key stat in today’s suicide update from Office for National Statistics (ONS) is about young people. Suicide rates in young age groups rose steadily from c.2010. They have been a top prevention priority. New figs confirm a different trend. Rates since 2018 are stable - not falling but the rise has stopped.
