Has Castle Point Borough Council in Essex made history in England?
On May 2nd 2024 independent parties won ALL seats for the full council, so CPBC becomes the only urban council in England in modern times NOT to have any councillors elected from a major political party.

🏟️ I’m really pleased to hear that the County Council and Oxford United have now formally agreed the lease option on the land for a new stadium. This is a significant step forward and another milestone complete towards getting a shovel in the ground… now for planning…

Not a single one will be built.

NIMBYs will find problems with all of them.

London must remain a museum at all costs.

And this underestimates the real numbers. Now. Also add in the officer time and consultant costs, and we get to a ridiculous number.

This underestimates the real numbers. Probably about time to FOI some Oxfordshire Authorities. And then see if we get some real numbers.

This is so funny when you think about how King Charles has done more for the environment than the Greens lmao

Note the number of councils that are capable of approving *100%* of major dwellings apps. No, it's not impossible. No, it doesn't depend on x,y,z. Just build it.

Here's a thought - why is it that these barriers just get installed unannounced, but when speed bumps are proposed for a stretch of road it has to go out to consultation? Why aren't access restrictions for off-road active travel afforded the same consideration?

Councillors blocking planning applications approved by their team, only to have them granted on appeal, with legal costs borne by taxpayer.

They know, they don’t care. How did they get elected?

How much taxpayer money and internal resource cost have Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council spent on planning appeals that they should not have fought in the last few years? Deceleration island in plain sight.

When your best NIMBY argument is that a scheme creates a 'giant wall of development' you've basically given up trying to excuse your hatred of housing people and economic development. building.co.uk/news/controver…
