Today, #Ethiopia 🇪🇹 launches an oral cholera vaccination #OCV campaign in #Amhara with 1.9 mil doses to control the #cholera outbreak in the region. Campaign combined with provision of hygiene and sanitation materials for enhanced prevention. 🧵1/4

Similar campaigns took place earlier this year in #Oromia, #Somali, #SNNP, and #Sidama Regions, whereby over 4 million people received vaccine doses in February, May, and August 2023. 🧵2/4

World Health Organization (WHO) is actively responding to the cholera outbreak by deploying over 150 surge teams to affected areas. 15 standardize CTCs ⛺️have been constructed, integrated support, and > 700 M3 cholera kits delivered. 🧵3/4

Amhara OCV campaign has started on September 16, 2023 in nine woredas/districts having high cholera case load with high case fatality rate and low coverage of WaSH coverage and the campaign is proceeding in good condition.
