#Ug: Giving up isn't part of our options! The crackdown of Environment Human Rights Defenders is a true manifestation of shrinking civic space. Climate activists are now targeting the financiers of oil projects to remind them that no project should come at expense of citizens

We’re happy to share that Menya Julius ,our space project lead was selected on the Youth Advisory Board as part of Women and Youth in Democratic Engagement (WYDE) initiative. Part of their roles will be making sure that interests of young people are put at the center.

In efforts to protect people’s land against oil projects ,we organized focused group discussions in Kikuube district to empower affected communities with legal knowledge to defend their land against oil developments. Communities indicated the increased land grabbing in the area.

Today 11 youth activist against #EACOP that were arrested at KCB BANK UGANDA premises in April appeared again in court. They are charged with offense of criminal trespass which is minor offense under laws of Uganda.Unfortunately they were denied bail & matter adjourned to 26 June 2025

For a just energy transition to happen ,we need to embrace community’s views on the energy that is relevant & accessible for both domestic & productive use. Decentralized renewable energy projects that are socially & economically owned by grass-root communities is what we want.

Working with children & youth have been so key in our work.Through partnerships and collaborations we conducted career guidance to education institutions to share experiences with young students on how they can make informed decisions. Our campaign is still on #Endchildmarriage

In an exchange learning that we organized between communities affected by oil projects, one of the outstanding issue coming in is land grabbing! Communities say more people have come into their area to grab their land due to oil developments. We empowered them about land rights.

The EACOP project has imprisoned over hundred’s of youth activists whenever they come out to peacefully express themselves about its impacts. Today 11 youth activists are still held in prison due to EACOP project,is this still development?#stopEACOP
