ولدت أسطورة خليل حاوي من لحظة موت، كما بشرت قصائده التموزية التي حملت نفحاتٍ من انتماء قديم للتيار القومي السوري، القصائد التي احتفت بسيرورة الموت والانبعاث من جديد.

كانت الدبابات الإسرائيلية على مشارف بيروت، وفي استعادة لإرادةٍ تكاتفت الظروف المحيطة لسلبها، اختار ألا يتجرّع مرارة تلك اللحظة حتى آخرها مرغماً. أنهى حياته في ليلة صيفية، بطلقة من بارودة صيد ضاع صوتها في ضجة الحرب، وظل صوت خليل حاوي مكتوباً على قيد بيروت.

الشعراء ثلاثة: شاعر يجري ولا يجرى معه، وشاعر يسير وسط المعمعة، وشاعر لا تستحي ان تصفعه. بشكل عام يعني.

Yassin Al-Haj Saleh ياسين الحاج صالح Salafism, on the other hand, is also a child of modernity, as much as fascism or communism. In their most brutal forms, none of these ideologies is compatible with the values of Enlightenment. Still, in moderation, they can inspire people and contribute to a pluralist society.

Yassin Al-Haj Saleh ياسين الحاج صالح I don't adhere to any of these ideologies, but what actually counts, in the end, are the actual ethics of how their adherents relate to others. What counts are the crimes they commit. Nobody should be judged on their conviction alone.
