Are the Earth's magnetic poles about to swap places? Strange anomaly gives reassuring clue theconversation.com/are-the-earths… via The Conversation
Nothing new about the South Atlantic Anomaly – new GeomagLiverpool study reveals strange magnetic field behaviour in the South Atlantic region existed as far back as 8 - 11 million years ago>> bit.ly/3eIZcdb
Yael Engbers, our PhD student just published her first paper in PNASNews together with @RKBonoPmag and Andy Biggin. pnas.org/cgi/doi/10.107… . #paleomag #southatlanticanomaly #sainthelena
CNN just posted about our article! edition.cnn.com/2020/07/20/wor… GeomagLiverpool Andy Biggin @RKBonoPmag #southatlanticanomaly #SAA #PNAS #paleomag
Tomorrow a new #MagNetS seminar!! 😀 Wednesday August 26 at 16:40 CET Yael Engbers will be presenting "Recurring anomalous magnetic field behavior in the South Atlantic on multi-million year timescales"!!! More info from Greig Paterson Dr Anita Di Chiara
What an exciting week! I have joined GeomagLiverpool as a postdoc to work on geodynamo modelling with Andy Biggin and co. What ingredients do simulations need in order to resemble Earth's magnetic field of the past millions of years (and even longer)? Let's find out...
Great paper by my supervisor and co! Andy Biggin
Wonderful to see so many people at today's Royal Astronomical Society UKSEDI meeting on the deep Earth. Great talks from Yael Engbers, Paula Koelemeijer, Chris Finlay and Yufan Xu. And there is more to come!
New paper from Yael Engbers reporting first palaeointensities from island of St Helena within the current South Atlantic Anomaly. Guess what? They are low... dx.doi.org/10.1029/2021JB…
My second paper was published last week! On the low palaeointensity results we found in Saint Helena, further claiming that the South Atlantic Anomaly in the geomagnetic field is not a one-off. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/20… Thanks co-authors Andy Biggin Michael Grappone Geochronology & Geochemistry Research Group
A reminder that there is still time to apply for a PDRA role here GeomagLiverpool lab, working in the field, the lab and building new micromag models
Excited about my newly published paper describing the palaeomagnetic field during the Miocene! agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/20… Andy Biggin @RKBonoPmag
