The new volume Goethe in Context (cambridge.org) Cambridge University Press offers a comprehensive introduction to Goethe's poetry and thought. I wrote Chapter 7 'Goethe & Religion' included in the inputs of an impressive assembly of Goethe scholars, much greater than me.
