We've had a super exciting visitor in school this morning! Guy from bugsnstuff.com came to show us some amazing MEGA-beasts. We LOVED exploring the amazing creatures and have lots of new knowledge ready to start our new Science topic after half term.

Today our whole school celebrated World Science Day! In year 2 we had fun learning about density to help us understand why water and oil separates. We also discussed chemical reactions and observed what happened when we added a fizzy tablet. The result was a super cool lava lamp!

Art afternoon! We’re having a go at freehand drawing some 17th century houses like those that were built at the time of the Great Fire of London as part of our Sparks and Flames topic!🔥 We also traced some sketches and used carbon paper to transfer to create awesome replicas.

We used a website called ‘Mozaic’ to help us learn all about Captain Cooks first ship The Endeavour. We learned about life on board and the conditions the crew mates lived in. We then did an observational drawing of the ship and labelled it. The children worked really hard

We had an amazing trip to Captain Cooks museum, learning all about his life and travels. We loved dressing up as all the people he met as well as having a go at writing with quills and observational drawings.

Measuring in metres! The children were asked to find items longer than a metre and items shorter than a metre. Challenge - Choose the items you would measure in cm and those you would measure in m?

Aboriginal Artwork Week! We studied lots of different artwork and symbols and practised some of the patterns and techniques indigenous people used. We then created lots of beautiful artwork of our own.

We had a wonderful trip to the library this morning. We learned about how you can join, the different things you can do and where you find different book types. We explored, read some books and then settled to listen to a fairytale. 📚

This morning we had two exciting visits - one from Nurse Beth and one from the Fire Brigade. Beth explained to us how she became a nurse and what her job entails. The fire brigade showed us lots of their special equipment and even let us have a go of the hose!

We loved our visit from a Detective Chief Constable and Police Officer today as part of Careers Week. We tried on all the clothing, heard about the important work they do and they nearly arrested Mrs Davage!

Science: investigating if plants grow best in hot or cold temperatures. As always, everything else stays the same to keep it a fair test. We’ve made our predications, keep a look out for the results!

In Science this week, we made some predictions about how many seeds we thought were in various different fruit. We then explored, cut open the fruit and had a look to see if our predictions were correct. Some of the findings really shocked us!
