Wetland Word of the Week 🪶 HEATHER BLEATER is the Scots for snipe, a regular visitor to Caerlaverock, known for the distinctive drumming sound the males make in flight. This sound isn't a call but comes from their tail! #WordsForWetlands #WetlandWordOfTheWeek

Our first barnies! A small flock of barnacle geese flew over this afternoon - likely the group resident to the Kinross area. We will begin to see the Svalbard geese at the end of the month. 📸 Alex Hillier #BarnacleGeese #Autumn

It is Scottish Climate Week so we are celebrating how WETLANDS can tackle the climate crisis. A wetland is anywhere land meets water and they are some of our most vulnerable habitats but also some of our greatest tools to fight climate change. #ScotClimateWeek Net Zero Scotland
