Patient 25-307 came to us after being attacked by a coyote. He escaped! Only to fall into a pool. He clambered out! Only to fall into a hot tub. By the time this little Gray Fox made it to our care, he was a little injured, a lot wet, and very upset with the situation.

How are you celebrating World Wildlife Day? The WWCC is getting busy with wildlife affected by the pollution in our oceans after the wildfires, coupled with the orphan wildlife separated from their families. #WWCC

If you're anything like our raccoon specialists, this is music to your ears. If you're a normal person, grab some ear plugs! This little dude is our first baby raccoon of the season, and he's absolutely perfect in every way. #WWCC

This Pied-billed Grebe got its new lease on life thanks to the generous support of the Wags & Menace Make a Difference Foundation. Because they support our medical care, we were able to fix this grebe's injured feet, and it's well on its way to a successful release.

This bird may be small, but it isn't a baby. But you know what are babies? Some of the animals you might see at our Wildlife Baby Shower on May 3rd from 10am-2pm. Materials for the Shower have been sponsored by @SandCloud

This Burrowing Owl was minding its own business before becoming the victim of a window strike at the aquarium, so it never got to see the frogs. Thankfully, the damage appears to be minimal and prognosis is looking good. #WWCC

This little friend is not so friendly! After wandering into a garage, it was herded into a bucket and brought in to us. We took a look (from a very safe distance) and said, yep, that looks like a healthy young rattlesnake.

Every spring, bird parents make nests, occupy holes, or just plop their eggs right on the ground. Sadly, sometimes babies wind up in our care. Come to our Wildlife Baby Shower on May 3rd, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm for a chance to see some baby animals!

Domoic acid (DA) poisoning occurs when certain algae blooms rapidly, dangerously increasing levels of neurotoxin in the food chain. As the poisoning progresses, seabirds will start exhibiting neurological symptoms. At its worst stage, DA poisoning can cause seizures and death.

Sometimes, taking videos of our patients doesn't take long. Other times, I have to sit for long periods of time, waiting for the right moment. Thankfully, this Acorn Woodpecker met me somewhere in the middle.

Jaret has missed telling you about animals, so we let him out of his cage again so he can tell you what makes woodpeckers so cool.

WildlifeCareCenter (@wwccoc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

He's coming out of his cage, and he's doing just fine! Jaret's back with some knowledge to share. We love California Ground Squirrels and you should too. #WWCCOC #WWCC #youshouldlovecaliforniagroundsquirrels

Hit us up in the comments with your bird calls. Send us a donation to help Jaret improve his. I'm not mocking(bird) Jaret's skills, I promise. #WWCCOC #WWCC #potw #wildliferehabilitation #wildlife #mockingbird #northernmockingbird #jaretshenanigans

Maybe we should consider putting Jaret back in his cage... Or getting him into birder therapy. What species do you struggle to differentiate between in the wild? #WWCCOC #WWCC #birding #birdidentification
