In 6 hours, at precisely 11:59 pm, our Direct Submissions portal will close!

Since the start of 2023, we had an upload portal available for members of the public to upload #WW2 stories and items to our online archive. Now closing at midnight!!!

More than one million Canadians and Newfoundlanders served in uniform at home and abroad - 10% of them were killed or wounded.

However, despite a racially segregated military, 80,000 black South Africans served in the Union Defence Forces.

During #WW2 , British India, formerly known as 'the Raj' (now modern India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) produced the largest volunteer army in history.

2.5 million troops from the sub-continent served in Allied armies.

200,000 New Zealanders - 1⁄8 of their dominion's population - served in the Second World War.

Half served overseas, including Captain Charles Upham, the only serviceperson to win the Victoria Cross twice in #WW2 !
