New from me: A new West Virginia law overturns a long-standing mandate that medical professionals treat newborns’ eyes with an ointment meant to prevent blindness if the babies. It became law without Gov. Morrisey's signature. westvirginiawatch.com/2025/08/06/new…

T.J. Meadows, Co-Host MetroNews Talkline If we are being fair, this really started in 2010 when a Democratic President tried to do something absolutely awful (i.e., helping people afford health insurance). I attended a town hall in Wheeling hosted by then-Rep. Alan Mollohan that the Tea Party made chaotic and uncivil.

Left: Trump claiming that he has "the best poll numbers he's ever had", citing CNN's pollster Right: CNN's pollster saying Trump was "not correct" about his polling, and that Trump has the "2nd lowest on record," compared only to his first term ratings

Trump's Treasury Secretary admits that Americans pay the price of tariffs: 'The check is written by the person who receives it at the dock in the US, and the importer can pass it on or not'

The phrase "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" comes to mind here. A WV family could save $300 on income taxes and yet lose $1,600 in Medicaid and/or SNAP benefits, and the argument below would still be true. Meanwhile, a "billionaire" like our junior senator will save millions.

Good read on the WVGOP's contempt for WV cities. "[B]y the time the community had mobilized to get answers, [WV] lawmakers...had stripped what little power they had over such a project. Counties lost potential tax revenue. Localities lost oversight. And residents lost a say."
