๐Ÿšจ California is poised to pass the biggest pro-housing reform we have seen in a generation, but our opposition is mobilizing RIGHT NOW to kill the deal. Call your Assemblymember TODAY to express your support for the budget deal in AB 130!

The impossible has become possible: we've passed a clean CEQA infill exemption. This is probably the most important thing California has done on housing in the present YIMBY moment.

ITS HAPPENING!!! All new housing projects under 50 units in the state of California will be exempt from CEQA!! The state is finally coming to its senses!

chris cross big apple sauce ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ—ฝ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฅฏ Honestly, this should not be allowed anymore. The more low rent stabilized apartments there are the higher the rent has to be on the others to make up the difference. Taxes, maintenance, utilities, insurance, none of that is ever stabilized.

โ€œI just wish the grandkids lived closerโ€ she thought as she hung up the phone with her daughter, before getting to work on mobilizing the neighborhood against yet another set of greedy developer-driven zoning changes for smaller lots, reduced setbacks & weird pocket neighborhoods

Learning that even some yimbys do not want this on Californiaโ€™s beaches. I mean, shoot for the moon, am I right? x.com/i/status/19420โ€ฆ

The tragedy is that nimby policies got baked into the CULTURE. The average resident now EXPECTS neighborhoods to be locked in amber and never change. Building to accommodate population growth should be perfectly normal but is treated as a deviation from the norm.

At a recent game night, we split the couples into teams based on who enjoyed La La Land more. I was on Team La La Land, of course.

Sorry to add to the ~transplant discourse~ but this is all ultimately about the housing shortage Young, well-educated, mostly well-off people are aware theyโ€™re beating somebody at Housing Musical Chairs and feel bad. But we could just build enough housing that itโ€™s not zero-sum!
