I interviewed PC Leader Tony Wakeham about 30 minutes ago. He called it a "secret deal" and said he needs to see the details before he can say much. Still, he says any deal must undergo full debate in the House of Assembly before committing the province to anything. #nlpoli

"This is about a significant asset that belongs to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. We cannot and should not undervalue that asset, and this simply cannot be about the next election — it has to be about the next generation," Wakeham said. #nlpoli

NDP Leader Jim Dinn said: "The devil will be in the details. How will this serve the people of this province? How will this address the issues of the Indigenous people of Labrador? You look at the wetland capping, you look at the flooding of the territory belonging to the Innu."

"Everybody will be clapping each other on the back," Dinn told me, "But I think, if anything, we've learned it pays to be critical, pays be skeptical, pays to ask the questions and get the answers, and maybe more importantly to have a debate" to ensure a good deal for N.L.
