This day, 11 September 1649, Parliamentarian forces commanded by Cromwell stormed the Royalist held town of Drogheda in Ireland. Over 3000 people died in one of the bloodiest sieges of the Civil Wars; understandably the siege has blackened Cromwell's reputation. 1/2

Just published a tour of the Battle of Worcester on Guidl. As the forces of Charles II were outnumbered by nearly 2:1, they should have been crushed without difficulty, but Cromwell's performance was remarkably clumsy and he therefore came close to defeat. images.app.goo.gl/Jt4E3fk6C1Ksuf…
