This year we have been conserving and enhancing our environment by planting some 10,000 trees and 3 miles of new hedgerows on our farm in Shropshire

Thank you for some great conversation and questions this evening. You’ve certainly put me through my paces! Will be back in the morning! HM

With a good covering of snow and sub-zero temps the running water of the ditch becomes a very busy place! Woodcock and Snipe foraging side by side, and one Woodcock even having a wee rest while another passes by Irish Woodcock Project Scarecrow Reject

Had 5Woodcock this evening, 2 singles into a woodland glade at dusk, pair on pasture together & a stream side bird on way home.

Another successful day Patchwork Challenge at Greenhead Moss and Hot Water Pond! Added Shovelor, Teal and Pink-footed Goose to the patch year list, had 4 Woodcock, 3 in the Moss bog and another in a field shelter belt, found a new Jack Snipe pool...and a Badger set!

Whoa! I've only just seen that last year WCS has captured the very first image of a Sulawesi woodcock in the wild with a camera trap! Nearly nothing is known about this bird which lives in the highlands of Sulawesi. Check out the size of those wings! #discovery #dreambird
