A helpful frame for educators: Think about this time as parents are going into their student teaching without any classes or training. Think about what level of parent support is needed and what level of consultation is needed to support parents. #WeKeepLeading

Special Educators, I hope you are listening to the CASE webinar right now. Excellent advice for moving forward in this crisis that has forced our students home. #WeKeepLeading Look here for a recording later: casecec.org

"IDEA did not contemplate changes in placement during a pandemic, let's not treat it like one." - I just got the giggles because I realized "Yeah COVID-19 is not a member of the IEP team!" WA-CASE CASE Glenna Wright-Gallo Tania May, Ed.D. #SpecialEducationHumor #WeKeepLeading

Oh yes - this feels about right and what keeps me up sometimes. No one knows if we're doing this "right" but together we can figure it out. #WeKeepLeading

New normal. But I liked how Superintendent Reykdal invoked Superintendent Josephine Preston, who also led during a pandemic. We can be defeated by this or we can rise to the occasion. We're on the bleeding edge of… instagram.com/p/B-qO8p9HNv1/…

I appreciate the difference between the impact of COVID19 on learning/summer slide contrasted with regression that students with disabilities experience that qualifies them for Extended School Year we're hearing about from CASE in today's webinar #WeKeepLeading

I love this. Now that we're past the initial chaos/enthusiasm of rapid adjustment to school closures, I think we educators should try to maintain what we started, but slow down to leverage this moment thoughtfully with long term, sustainable change now in mind. #WeKeepLeading

The timing of this presentation CASE for thinking about returning to school post COVID for students with disabilities was perfect. Although I might debate you on the circle/triangle question Heather Peine 😜

Watched a webinar on measuring the COVID-19 slide with Dr. David Franklin and I think my biggest takeaway is how important it will be to look at T&L data universally and then benchmark that against "normal" - i.e. a full year of instruction, but also to norm-reference for SWD

.Dr. David Franklin reminds us that student learning is like Swiss cheese - there will be gaps in their learning (there always are) and educators need to quickly & accurately assess those gaps so that teaching can be planned appropriately to address the impact of remote learning

Excited to hear from Glenna Wright-Gallo at the Urban Collaborative virtual conference. Special education has been extraordinary pressure to adapt to schooling in this pandemic. Hope for some inspiration, networking, and some ideas!

My hope is that by 2030, students with disabilities have made significant improvements in closing achievement and opportunity gaps, & individuals with disabilities are authentically included - in schools, in recreation, in employment Glenna Wright-Gallo

Richard Elmore had a measurable impact on my life Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) He pushed, inspired & sometimes intimidated the heck out of me but he also was wry & brilliant. I feel lucky to have learned from him, worked as a member of his teaching team (Leaders of Learning), and now I'm so sad that we've lost him.
