Day one of the latest BA Initial training courses. Today my trainers have changed our approach somewhat by introducing managing charged jets at an early stage. They offer much higher flow rates at fires although they are more difficult to handle than hose reels.

Great to get hands on with my team and assist with delivery of high rise training today! Covered deployment of 52mm jets with multiple teams, Cleveland packs, firefighting in large areas and a quick BE-SAHF lecture! And of course, managing contaminants straight after the photo!

What a brilliant day. Really enjoy getting hands on with the training - this is why firefighters join up and our trainees won’t forget for a while! The day ended with a large scale demo - I will post a video of that once we’ve downloaded and edited it!

My 13th Passing Out Parade since joining Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service 13 courses, 350 FFs in 4 years takes some doing! So proud of our 48 new FFs & my staff who make it happen. We have an incredible team at our TC - instructors, admin, catering, cleaning, fire ground support - thank you 👏🚒
