Today I asked the Prime Minister if he will finally do what’s legally and morally right and end the government’s complicity in Israeli war crimes by banning ALL arms sales —including F-35 fighter jets — to Israel. He said “no”.

So sad that someone of Beth Winter’s calibre felt compelled to leave the Labour Party. Citing the two-child benefit cap, scrapping universal pensioners’ winter fuel payments and, of course Gaza, her full resignation letter is in The Morning Star👉 x.com/M_Star_Online

🇵🇸 Agreement confirmed, thanks to political pressure. We must keep up the pressure on our politicians to help make this ceasefire evolve into peace, liberation and self-determination for Palestinians.✊

Reported cuts to benefits are extremely concerning. We absolutely should not be removing benefits that allow disabled people to be independent, get work, and stay in work. Let's try wealth taxes instead. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Reported cuts to disability benefits risk driving hundreds of thousands of people into poverty. Personal Independence Payments help disabled people to get work or stay in work - more austerity is not the solution. Scope Campaign for Disability Justice Joseph Rowntree Foundation

Cutting benefits is a political choice that the government is making. There are alternatives to ever deeper austerity. Properly taxing the wealthiest after decades of widening inequality would be a start.

Swords into ploughshares. F-35s into wind turbines! I'm pleased that RMT’s call for 'a new foreign policy with peace and social justice at its heart’ has lead to publication today of the Alternative Defence Review. Read it here: cnduk.org/ADR/ #JobsNotBombs #ADR

Itis not true that more military spending will boost the economy. It is a terrible waste when public services and our basic infrastructure need funds. It is a scandal when welfare is being cut. thetimes.com/business-money…

The Government ramping up military spending whilst planning to cut support for the most vulnerable is morally wrong and would make us less safe. Voters want to see real change in their communities and a genuine end to austerity, not more funding for wars overseas.

The government has engineered itself into a state of wilful ignorance. It risks dismantling international humanitarian law to maintain its support for Israel. We are at a hinge moment in history: we can suspend arms exports to Israel, or risk being complicit in genocide.
