I have found ten of the soundscapes that Robert Fripp (Robert Fripp) created for Windows Vista! These were made available on the WorldWide Telescope website. Unfortunately they're only in mono WMA, but these are still interesting. youtu.be/OLjB7XXgcok

Unfortunately, both of these videos have been blocked by copyright troll Aviator Management GmbH. For the soundscapes video I decided to just mute out the offending one (track 9), and the documentary I uploaded here: archive.org/details/full_r…

Coming back a bit to dump some interesting things I learnt about the Windows 98 startup sound from Ken Kato, who created it. 1. He used a Waldorf Microwave XT, a Roland synth and Fairlight CMI samples to create it, using eMagic Logic and Pro Tools on a Mac!

(Keep in mind that most media professionals used Macs to create content back then.) 2. The startup and shutdown sounds were selected from an internal contest. Ken and Stan LePard came first and second for the startup; Stan and Ken for the shutdown respectively.
