So interesting to see games in development at IndieCade πΉοΈπ! I can not only help game developers to get some ideas on climate change and renewable energy but also learn a bit on the best ways of communicating this ideas to everyone to make a positive change.
#ClimateJam by IndieCade πΉοΈπ made me realise that video games moved on quite a lot since last time I played. Turns out there's plenty of Earth-focused games, and I think , Beyond Blue and Abzu in Down to Earth Humble Bundle could make ocean-inspired scientists like @jordan_burgess_ smile
Up next is Victoria Bessonova on her research into climate change impacts on the offshore wind industry, co-funded by #AuraCDT and ORE Catapult Will increased storminess mean thereβll be too much wind?
A year ago I was reading about how scientists use supercomputers to study #climatechange. It's strange to realise that now I'm one of them - I just got access to JASMIN #supercomputer managed by Centre for Environmental Data Analysis! So excited to start looking into climate change impacts on #waves
Black Fridays usually pass by unnoticed for me as I try #BuyNothing unless I really need it. Today I want to join Ethical Consumer and #BoycottAmazon. I stopped buying from Amazon ages ago, they are naughty every year and don't deserve our money for Christmas
Going through causes and consequences of #ClimateChange as part of the Climate Fresk #ScienceCommunication training confirmed how complex #ClimateChangeImpacts are and how they are interconnected. At some point, it became hard to picture these connections π
In the category best oral presentation of the day, we are please to announce Nathan Griffiths Nathan Griffiths as runner-up and Victoria Bessonova Victoria Bessonova as the winner ππ
So many fruitful and useful discussions today around communicating science to media and the public at Stand Up for Science workshop by Voice of Young Science . Looking forward to hearing the view of policymakers on #SciComms and research impact on policy after lunch! #VoYS
Those who want to continue learning about impacting policy after today's workshop by Voice of Young Science can ask their institution to look into training by Fast Track Impact (not affiliated, I genuinely enjoyed their training and that is where I got the bug for influencing policy!)
