I've never had a bad - or even mediocre - wine from Wither Hills Winery . This 2015 pinot from The Wine Society is somehow dry and rich at the same time, closer to Kumea than Madfish, and with a little more wood than either
And Majestic Wine has only gone and stocked a lovely pinot from the wonderful #yarravalley - starts off with the distinctive nose like Mac Forbes Wines and grows to a lovely dusty cherry.
This weekend's treat - boekenhoutskloof 2017 The Chocolate Block Majestic Wine. A solid big wine, as per the hype. Enjoyed over two nights, surprised that it hasn't opened out more. Cellerable. Worth £20? There are wines 1/2 the price which with time under the stairs will be as yummy
2011 Red from MEERLUST WINE ESTATE. I havent opened a bottle in 7 months. It keeps getting better - still tobacco but less pronounced than before, with big soft juicy dark berries coming to fore, and a hint of vanilla. Probably a few years left yet but my supply is dwindling rapidly!
Opened up a Chateau Musar UK 2007 this evening. Tastes fresh, almost young, with lots of fruity berries but a bit less spice than other years. Very enjoyable, but I'll wait another couple of years for the next bottle as I am sure it has plenty left to give
Oh my #zinfandel, I'd forgotten all about you then along comes a bottle of Revival Zinfandel. Gentle start like a pinot and powerful finish like a good claret. Thank you Majestic Wine for this treat.
Marcelo Pelleriti 2018 Valle de Uco #malbec from Majestic Wine Spicey, punchy tannins, drinking well enough now but will round out very well with a few years of patience. #mendoza
2016 Swartland red from Majestic Wine winemaker series by Marc Kent. Well structured but needs another two or three years in the bottle to really develop in to something special
Just decanted MEERLUST WINE ESTATE 2011 red for tonight's supper. A cheeky taste test and it's wonderful straight out of the bottle - I expect it will open out beautifully by this evening #stellenbosch
Checking in on MEERLUST WINE ESTATE 2014 red. Had it in the cellar a while. Drinking really well - lively fruits on the nose, leather, tobacco and smoked paprika on the palette. It's really developed nicely since the last tasting when it was a bit too full on. #stellenbosch
Two gorgeous wines from Mac Forbes Wines Alfred Gratien The Wine Society the champers full of sharp apple developing into brioche and other delights, the pinot subtle but strong - perfect #yarravalley
