Remembering sunnier days sampling newt microbiomes out on Dartmoor. But we did find this handsome common frog too that was clearly VERY happy to pose for a team photo.

Love this new paper from Carly Muletz Wolz and team. Filling important knowledge gaps about #amphibian 🐸 transcriptomic responses to #chytrid, but fascinating that the response differs depending on temperature.

Postdoc alert! 2 ERC-funded positions available in my lab knowleslab.com. If you ♥️ host-microbe interactions, & wonder how they arise and influence fitness in wild animals, come join us... 1. w/ @SuseJohnston my.corehr.com/pls/uoxrecruit… 2. my.corehr.com/pls/uoxrecruit… Please RT

And completing the brace of Wild Microbiome Lab talks is alice pawlik talking about her recent amphibian adventures AND survey investigating the relationship between people and their ponds

Really pleased to begin fieldwork for our The Leverhulme Trust funded project in beautiful Iceland 🇮🇸 studying microbiome dynamics of migratory birds 🦠 🐦

Our study species is the light-bellied Brent goose. Iceland is an important stopover site where they build up reserves in preparation for migration to the Canadian High Arctic breeding grounds. This picture shows the ring IDs we use to track individuals over time and space

Yesterday we went north to explore the relatively remote area of Myrar and look for ringed light-bellied Brent geese. Weather was stunning 🌊

And that's a wrap! After a successful month of fuelling up, the Brents are on their way to Canada. We managed to get two last samples from some stragglers this morning, but now that's it until next year. Good luck on your journey Brents!

Thrilled to see this out in print! Here Kirsty Marsh, @StuBearhop and I discuss the importance of studying individual microbiome dynamics in natural systems, published in Trends in Microbiology Funded by the The Leverhulme Trust sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
