I'm taking part in a Conversations event with QUB on nature in the city. For instance, Belfast has a road map to protect 30% of its area for biodiversity by 2030. To meet it depends on how they manage their green spaces, come along to find out more. ⬇️ docs.google.com/forms/d/1Z6fZS…

Great to see this issue being covered. Total failure of Department for Infrastructure to progress active travel in any meaningful way is leaving NI behind. We deserve so much better 😊 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Fair play to the Belfast Cycle Campaign and Sustrans in Northern Ireland for calling the Dept for Infrastructure out on this. Department for Infrastructure have been a law onto themselves for too long dodging difficult decisions on active transport. Hopefully this signals a step change. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Tonight as part of NI Science Festival Late Late Love Lab I'm discussing queerness in wildlife. We'll discuss our polysexual, polygender world and show how nature is not only queerer than we suppose but is queerer than we can suppose. Book below 👇 nisciencefestival.com/events/late-la…

Discussing importance of urban green spaces today with #BBC. These spaces are the foundations of our urban biosphere. We must manage them for #biodiversity. We aspire to manage 30% of our planet for biodiversity by 2030 but where is the ambition to renature our public estate?

We've submitted our consultation for the extension of opening hours (with most of the heavy lifting done by the fab Erin Mckeown). In principle Belfast City Council have our support, we can't expect people to care for nature if they can't access nature. What we're calling for:

Our response to the column in the Belfast Telegraph today (belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/column…): Wild Belfast celebrates both human diversity and biological diversity. The gross conflations made in this article do a grave disservice not only to the meaningful conversations about diversity

Wow! The results are in following #CityNatureChallenge2025 We found almost a thousand species across Greater Belfast. Here is just a small selection. A huge well done to Clare and Rhonda who topped the leaderboard of observations and species, respectively.

The sad story of our Skylarks. This time last week they were all on eggs but today the farmers arrived and this evening she's frantically trying to find her eggs.

What if Belfast was a National Park City? After last year's "Making Space for Nature' conference that's the question we'll be exploring in our next conference on the 10th June with Planning at Queen's University Belfast. What if we had better access to green space?
