Rarely on Twitter recently - it's peak season. Now searching for rare Curlews at Wizna meadows🇵🇱 for LIFEkulikPL to protect nests: by fencing with electrical installation against mammals & corvids or by artifical incubation of broods. Quite successful with 6 nests already found!

Displaying Great Snipes with European Bisons in the background. You can only get this view in Białowieża Forest, probably nowhere else in the world.

Aquatic Warblers are back to breeding grounds on Biebrza Marshes 🇵🇱 However, extreme drought makes finding them difficult as they are pretty localised - occur only where sedges are taller (~knee-high). On Ławki fen (Długa Luka boardwalk) vegetation is too low at the moment.

Yesterday in Biebrza Marshes #Poland, my first Aquatic Warblers showed very well. A full day of good birds including Greater Spotted Eagle and White-backed Woodpecker plus Red-footed Falcon, hundreds of marsh Terns etc - thanks to Oliwier Myka for the arrangements

Three-toed Woodpecker male minding his own business. This woodpecker juveniles should start to hatch within days while probably all young White-backed Woodpeckers are already out of the nestholes - strange calendar of NE Poland's rare woodpeckers :)

Pygmy Owl females tend to keep their holes clean after the juveniles have hatched. Here it was removing the pellets from the inside. Taken in Białowieża Forest while guiding tour with World Woodpeckers
