this criticism annoys me because vi’s prison trauma was explored every moment she was on screen as an adult. it informs every single decision she makes—for better or worse. same kind of ppl who ask “why didn’t she just move” when she broke down over vander during the finale

vi is in a constant state of fight-or-flight throughout the whole show, she has these emotional outbursts bc she doesnt know what to do with herself, she doesn’t consider the optics of her choices (ex. joining the enforcers) just puts herself where she can punch her problems away

she is kneecapped by the trauma of losing vander and the guilt of leaving powder bc that was the last thing that happened before she was taken away, before time stopped, before she became inmate 516. she comes back to an alien world where everyone she knew is dead or different.
