From the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center facebook page: after last weekend’s tumble out of the nest, this owlet is adjusting well to treetop life. Its sibling remains in the nest, but is expected to be ready to leave at any moment.

Now more than 6 weeks old, the second owlet could fledge at any moment! Take a close-up look on the morning of May 24 as the owlet contemplates joining its sibling and exploring the territory beyond the nest. youtu.be/Spu1NSZ0YEY

Watch as the second Great Horned Owlet fledges on May 25! The 44-day-old owlet spent time preparing its jump by standing at the edge of the nest before confidently leaping off to join its sibling in exploring the grounds of the Center. youtu.be/-hztFx6TDGw

Thanks to Bill J. Boyd from the Center, these are two more pics of the 1st owlet that fledged from yesterday (5/24/25). They've seen Athena this morning, but not either of the owlets....more to follow!

5/25 The Center posted an update with this adorable pic. The last owlet to fledge did a little "window shopping" at the Centers Shop and Gallery after it fledge!

What an amazing season, culminating in both owlets fledging (albeit one a little early!) We're thankful for our partners at Wildflower Center and to all the viewers out there that followed along. We'll be shutting down the stream at 3PM ET/2PM CT. Till next season!🤞

Thanks to all the Athena fans out there! We hope to see you again next season. Still lots of action on the #cornellhawks, at the WisconsinKestrels , and on the Bird Cams feeder cams. Good birding!

6/4 Update!: "How'd you find me?" Look who was spotted in the Arboretum this morning! Thanks to everyone who’s been keeping a respectful distance and quietly enjoying these special sightings. It’s still such a treat watching Athena's owlets grow. 📷 Bill J. Boyd
