🍄 The enchanting crimson waxcap, Hygrocybe punicea is one of our largest waxcaps and has been spotted on some of our nature reserves. Autumn is a great time of year to spot some amazing looking fungi. What fungi have you seen this season?

🍂 Remember, remember... to check for little critters before you start your bonfire! Bonfire night can be a wonderful experience but do a check before you light your fire as hedgehogs start to hibernate this time of year in piles of leaves and logs called a 'hibernaculum' 🦔

🍄 Candlesnuff fungus, Xylaria hypoxylon is a fungi that we have growing at some of our nature reserves and relies on dead wood to grow. Dead wood is an important habitat to have around our sites and if we don't have to, we won't remove any dead or fallen trees 🪵
