Willow’s human here: so of course I burnt the chicken, dashed out and am making it again. This time not taking my eyes of the pan… made rice, cooked some of his favourite sausages and some streaky bacon and I am not coming home until I get some food in him. Update soon 🤞🙏💪

Willow’s human here: so back from seeing willow. He was pretty high/out of it on pain killers but I got to spend an hour with him and he got a lot of hugs and kisses and ear rubs. His back legs and abdomen are super swollen. Doesn’t happen all the time after surgery…

Willow the Whippet (@whippetwillow) 's Twitter Profile Photo

…but as he is a senior dog and the surgery was significant, the swelling is to be expected. He did not have any of the food but he did seem to enjoy smelling it. Tried everything and then the vet said he is too sick to eat :( So on with the tube feed…

Willow the Whippet (@whippetwillow) 's Twitter Profile Photo

…they have also run out of veins as his hind legs are too swollen, so they are going for the jugular vein for IV and for that he has to be sedated again. And the jaundice they have said could be just the liver lacking sufficient proteins in the blood…

Willow the Whippet (@whippetwillow) 's Twitter Profile Photo

…so he might need a blood transfusion so that his liver can repair. Or his liver could be the first of his organs to fail and if that is the case, if he has multiple organ failure, we will of course have to euthanise him…

…but we are hoping for him to recover; despite the painkillers, I could see in his eyes he was there with me and did all I could to reassure him that he would get through it. It was so good to see him again. So taking each day at a time. Will post updates as we know more. 🤞

Willow’s human here. We sadly had to say goodbye to our precious baby. He came down hard with multiple organ failure very quickly and I was with him at the end. Thank you all for your incredible support. We are heartbroken

Willow’s humans here: we are trying to like everyone’s messages to show our appreciation but need to sleep. We are exhausted and probably still in shock. Believe me when I say thank you all for all your support through this. My heart aches. And I know you know x

I just collected Willow from Chestnut Lodge Pet Crematorium. They were incredible, from the moment we arrived it was clear how much they care. I hope this will help closure. The setting is beautiful and peaceful there. I’m so glad I found them. Thank you so much Chestnut Lodge Pet Crematorium and Pet Cemetery

The nights are pretty bad, mostly sleepless, soul sick and wracked with guilt I have to process. So I have started going through all the messages. They give me a lot of comfort and I will reply eventually because you have shared stories of your losses too…

Willow the Whippet (@whippetwillow) 's Twitter Profile Photo

…and I am learning that grief is something you have to let happen and hope it doesn’t consume you entirely. And all your experiences you have shared, about pain and loss, show me that the grief we feel is actually an expression of the profoundest love.

It’s been a joy looking after Willow’s account, many happy years and Twitter pals along the way. For now I’ll be managing @boo_the_iggy on insta. Hope to see you there. lots of love xox

Meet Petal❤️had her heart worm treatment side by side with Espresso. We’re still shocked he’s gone. 1 gets through it but the other doesn’t so sad & unfair. Petal is ready for adoption. She’s a lovely but scared girl that’s been through so much. Plz share?🙏🏻❤️

PROTEST💥💪🏼💪🏼against the treatment of hunting dogs this Sunday at your closest Spanish city. We’ll have a team in Madrid so say hello but sadly we won’t make Murcia this year as we’re short on help at the centre… another 15 galgos & Podencos arrive tomorrow. Shout loud 📣📣📣

🆘WARNING STRONG IMAGES🆘 Competition season is over, no more trophies to be won this year. Galgos now being thrown onto the streets unwanted & abused. We continue to focus on street rescues as we have for years. Here’s why we focus on those that have no-one to look out for them
