We caught up with our friends at Safety Town today for fire safety day. Together, we learned stop, drop and roll and when you get out - you stay out!

Capt Jason Milton & Firefighter Joey Carter spent Wednesday morning at the Junior Lifeguard Camp at Garden Park Pool in Warwood, teaching basic CPR and water safety scenarios. Despite the heat, it was a great day poolside and an even better opportunity to share lifesaving skills!

With the July 4 holiday just a few days away, a reminder from WFD - several types of fireworks are prohibited within city limits. The city's fireworks ordinance was implemented in 1981 to safeguard homes and businesses from catching fire and reduce serious injuries.

On Saturday, the late Cliff Sligar, who served as our Fire Chief from 1971-95 was formally inducted into the Wheeling Hall of Fame in the Public Service category. Congrats to all the inductees!

WARWOOD AREA - Starting Monday, July 14, the Wheeling Fire Department will begin fire hydrant inspections in the Warwood neighborhood. Inspections will take place Monday through Thursday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. No testing will occur on weekends.

We teamed up with Vitalant who hosted a blood drive today at our new headquarters training room. Roughly two dozen people donated blood. We’re happy to have been able to serve as a host site for this important event.
