Trans people are targets of cruelty right now. Official targets, official cruelty. By law. Life is already hard for them, and there is a significant bloc of assholes working night and day to make it harder. If you aren't in direct, vocal opposition to that, you are a bad person.

When a press release about an existential risk for humanity comes from some organization you haven't previously heard of, step 1 is to go on LinkedIn to check the background and experience level of every single person listed on the web site of said organization. Just saying...

David Byrne’s statement says that Here Lies Love “has always been performed to Karaoke tracks” but that’s misleading. The piece was performed at Carnegie Hall in 2007 with a large live band, including winds, brass, and strings.

Honestly, it seems like the main reason college administrators are pushing generative AI so hard right now is that they hope it will allow them to cut teaching staff even further, and squeeze more out of those who remain. They want to make us complicit in our own obsolescence.

IIT has many problems. but "pseudoscience" is like dropping a nuclear bomb over a regional dispute. it's disproportionate, unsupported by good reasoning, and does vast collateral damage to the field far beyond IIT. as in vietnam: "we had to destroy the field in order to save it."
