Food is not the solution to food insecurity - Sabine Baker presented results from a review of policy responses to food insecurity. We must address the root causes rather than solely relying on bandaid solutions of food banks.

Incredible to see this timeline summary of place-based experimentation in Aus from Tim Reddel. While the term is a buzzword now - it has long roots.

I learnt so much from @janechen_au's preso on unbuzzwordifying intersectionality. Jane summarised key ways its used incorrectly & I came away aiming to learn more and do better in my own research! Biggest learning: It's not about demographic traits. Instead about systemic traits.

Fascinating work on counting ethnicity in the AUstralian census presented by Dr Liz Allen. Inclusive, rigorous, yet pragmatic work using mixed methods approaches. Bravo. 👏 I'll be so stoked when I see your gold-standard q in the next census, Liz! Here's hoping it gets through🤞

Prof Gerry Redmond presented an analysis of increases in parent expenditure on education over time, differences in extra-curricular activity participation by SES, and decreasing income supports. Raising questions for us all to consider

How can we have 93 pieces of legislation but still have policy inaction? Gaby Ramia took us through the types of policy inaction and how they've played out for International Student welfare
