The desert remains of the #Roman quarry at Mons Claudianus (Egypt). The quarry was worked between the C1st & C3rd AD. The workforce was overseen by the #RomanArmy, & (unusually) was made up of skilled civilian craftsmen rather than slaves. #AncientSiteSunday #RomanEgypt
