Severe weather is possible Wednesday, mainly in the evening for southeast MI. A slight risk, or 2 out of 5 category, has already been added after an extended outlook over the weekend. We've got time for things to shift, so I expect updates to the outlook.

The slight risk has expanded and an enhanced risk, 3 out of 5, has been added to the area for Wednesday evenings severe risk. All hazards remain on the table if storms can form correctly, although damaging wind is the primary concern. Timing continues to focus on Wednesday PM.

Heavy rainfall is possible through Thursday morning as several rounds of showers and thunderstorms impact the region. Average rainfall totals over the course of Wednesday will be 0.75-1.50 inches with locally higher totals (1.5-3 ") likely. #miwx

A special weather statement has been issued for Ann Arbor MI, Ypsilanti MI and Saline MI until 12:45 PM EDT

*STORM UPDATE* A lot of folks are asking if the heavy rain out there now will lower this chances of severe weather later today. The answer (unfortunately) is NO. Plenty of sunshine will move in quickly to re-energize the atmosphere for the more intense storms after 5pm.

The tornado threat for today has extended into parts of Michigan - with one tornado warning already issued in Metro Detroit.

A line of severe storms is expected to move across southeast Michigan this evening, mainly between the hours of 6pm and 10pm. The main line is preceded by scattered storms that could also be strong to severe. #miwx
