While in Halifax, I joined my counterpart CCFL, and incoming CO and COXN of the future ROBERT HAMPTON GREY on a tour of the vessel at ISI Ltd. Already launched, it was great to see the progress. The ship will be delivered this summer, and home ported in Esquimalt end summer 2026.

22 Apr was a big day for CFP and WIN as we promoted the CO, Cdr Pellerin to Capt(N) (newest Capt(N) in the RCN - off to Ottawa), appointed the XO as CO to manage the reduced crew, and thanked the COXN for her service as she prepares to move on. #bz to the whole Comd Team in WIN.

It was an outstanding week of learning, sharing ideas, and building connections as a course member of the GFOAC held at the NATO Defence College in Rome. We enjoyed outstanding presentations that focused on the strengths and weaknesses of NATO given global contemporary issues.

As an aside, if you are going to work in Rome, it might as well be at the same time that a Pope is being selected.

Catching-up from early May, when I was honoured to present Lt(N) Chong and Defehr the King’s Coronation Medal, and Lt(N) Dupuis and LCdr Harper their Command Qualification. It’s always a good day when you get to recognize the outstanding achievements of our people.

On 13/14 May, CANFLTPAC hosted the FPC for the upcoming Ex TRIDENT FURY 25. Representatives from the CAF, USN and USCG, the Mexican Navy, JMSDF and ROKN worked through the final details of this USW focused exercise taking place off the west coast of Vancouver Island in July.

Enjoyed a wonderful Friday evening cooking with the “London Chef” at the Esquimalt Wardroom. It was lots of fun learning how to cook a tasty Thai dish, with a few laughs, and about 40 other people. Thanks to the Wardroom organizers for putting this on. Highly recommended.
