Members of the Harlem Wizards paid a special visit to Santapogue on May 23. The classes gathered outside on the basketball court to watch some of the tricks and moves done by the basketball players. Students participated in different challenges, even getting teachers involved.

Student-artists in Mrs. Shaw’s first and second grade class recently created Van Gogh-inspired sunflowers. The students did an amazing job emulating Van Gogh's short brushstrokes.

Forest Avenue Elementary School recently presented the musical “Cinderella, A Modern Makeover.”

South Bay kindergarten students recently showed off their vocal skills during their end of year concert!

To celebrate Flag Day at the Junior High School, students created a paper chain flag in red, white and blue.

West Babylon Senior High School honored and recognized its graduating seniors with scholarships and awards for their achievements both in and out of the classroom during the school’s annual Senior Awards Night on June 8. Seniors received more than $120,000 in awards.

T-minus 10 and counting… It’s lift off for Mr. Bellino’s technology class at the Junior High School and their rocketry unit. The lesson emphasized hands-on science, prediction, data collection, interpretation, teamwork and problem solving.

Members of the Class of 2022 had the opportunity to walk through the halls of their former elementary schools one last time on June 14. The soon-to-be-graduates were met with applause and signs of encouragement by the elementary students as they walked through the school.

The top 25 students in the Class of 2022 were honored for their accomplishments during the annual Blue and Gold Breakfast with the Superintendent on June 16.

South Bay held its academic growth showcase assemblies on June 22. The ceremony is held three times a year to recognize different character traits. Nominated by their teachers, students were called up to be recognized for demonstrating self-discipline in their classroom.

Senior High School ninth graders will be continuing their STEM education during the summer months. Many of the programs required interviews and essays for admission. Congratulations to: Magdalena Obrycki, Nicole Rex, Shayna Juimo-Kamga and Greg Almonacid.

It's SOCKTOBER at JFK! Throughout the month of October, our School Quality Team and Student Council will be collecting new socks to be donated. We encourage our school community to wear silly socks on Walk to School Day (10/4) & every Friday in October!
