The extreme temperatures are only worth it if we get to do fun science experiments. I’m disappointed to report that bubbles blown and hot water sprayed outside at -15 degF did not freeze. I can confirm that standing barefoot in an open doorway for a few minutes was not good.

Congrats to my Ph.D. student, @AlexKrichels, for publishing his study showing that greenhouse gas emissions in historically poorly-drained soils in depressions respond differently than upslope soils to intense rain events. link.springer.com/article/10.100…
