As someone who is still recovering from a gunshot to the head, I am heartbroken and infuriated that Ralph Yarl now faces a lifetime of recovery. At 16 years old. For simply ringing a doorbell. We cannot continue to be a nation defined by gun violence and injustice.

Ralph Paul Yarl was picking up his two siblings. He went to the wrong house in Kansas City, Missouri. The White man who opened the door did not see a lost 16-year-old boy. He saw a threat. Shot Ralph, twice. Once in the head to kill him. Somehow Ralph survived. 1/
