1) Has EE had a data breach? My husband had a call from #carphonewarehouse (turns out to be #fraudulent ) on Friday to upgrade his phone to an iPhone 11. Gets the latest iPhone 13 max pro and iwatch series 7 instead. Order processed on EE without verification…

2) turns out this scammer was able to process an order, which does appear in his #EEmobile. He only gave email address, postal address and card details. Send the items to our home address. My husband calls about the mistake and they say it’s a packing error and asks to send…

4) so the penny had dropped tonight. Looking so closely the email verification of the order, it came from [email protected] so this is a subtle plural change. The content of the email is very professional to the eye… #fruad #mobilephonefruad

5) my husband has logged this active scam with Action Fraud this evening and we’ve been able delay the delivery of the phone / watch going to the scammer as it was recorded delivery with Post Office - we know it’s at #machester sorting office… so #machestersortingoffice

6) we are hoping we can gethold of Post Office Manchester Sorting Office to try and at least divert the delivery back to either us or back to EE and work out how someone can place an order without creds? Is it a #databreach or #insidejob ? No 3DS on the Lloyds app either?

7) just a final note on this thread. This shows easy it is to be a victim of #identityfraud these days. Lloyds have been brilliant tonight with stopping the card. Action Fraud reporting was seamless. Hoping EE will jump in in the morning to try and help.

8) forgot to add. This fake #carphonewarehouse knew all the details when they phoned my husband. Contract end date etc. it sounded legit at the time. Didn’t ask for any login details of passcode to EE. EE but he can see the order in his existing EE account this evening

9) following the story here on the #identityfraud to obtain a new phone contract from@a bogus #carphonewarehouse scammer. EE was brilliant in their customer service this morning. It’s now with their internal fraud team 🙏🏻

10) Mr Fraudster in #manchester signed for the delivery of those devices today though. They’re bricks now. Hope you like them! It’s quite scary how easy it is be scammed these days. Be vigilant people! #scammers #protectyourselves #questioneverything
