This week I’m interviewing: Louise Minchin (20 Oct, Wells Lit Fest), Lesley Downer (22 Oct, Goldster online) & Helen Castor (23 Oct, Wells Lit Fest). Really looking forward to finding out more about the stories behind #writing all three #books.

Thanks to Wells Festival of Literature for a really fun event on The Book Makers, and to Wells Cathedral and Kevin Spears for showing me their incredible chained library (including Nicholas Jenson's miraculous printing of Pliny, and Baskerville's Virgil). What a place!

Enjoyed my first visit to Wells Festival of Literature tonight where I was in conversation with Rafael Behr about how to be more engaged with politics without getting enraged. A great audience and such a warm welcome from all the team here 🙏🏻

📚 We were thrilled to be part of Wells Festival of Literature again! We sponsored the talk by Kate Hext, author of 'Wilde in the Dream Factory'. The book explores Wilde’s lasting influence on writers, filmmakers and actors. A signed copy will be in our School library for pupils to enjoy!

Back in beautiful Wells (Somerset) for my second interview at the Lit Fest. This evening I’ll be interviewing historian Helen Castor Helen Castor about her excellent new book “The Eagle and the Hare, The Tragedy of Richard II and Henry IV”. I’ve learnt so much from reading it.

Petroc Trelawny and CHURCH GOING with Andrew Ziminski FSA & SPAB 🇺🇦 - two conversations at Wells Festival of Literature. I really enjoyed chatting to them - Andrew Ziminski on the stonemason’s craft and his new book ’Church Going’, and Petroc Trelawny on all things Cornwall and his book ‘Trelawny’s Cornwall’. Thanks, both!
