Absolutely mesmerizing view of "gravity waves" propagating along the "tropopause," or effective ceiling of the lower atmosphere, following the eruption of #HungaTonga this morning. The waves result from the plume's buoyancy bumping against the tropopause and causing ripples.

Ground #blizzard scenes from #Northdakota this morning along I-29. I think that's blizzard warning number five this season?! I'm guessing we're the #sundog and blizzard capital of the lower 48 this year. #ndwx #stormhour NWS Grand Forks

A #ValentinesDay poem for #WxTwitter: Outbounds are red, Inbounds are green. When they come together, Get your warning screen! From my nerdy heart to yours.

Significant winter impacts are anticipated starting today and lasting through Friday morning. Most severe impacts will be across the Devils Lake basin, but there is still some uncertainty regarding precipitation type and impacts further south and eastward. #ndwx #mnwx

Hard to believe this was 25 years ago. I was a senior in college at UNL, watching from afar. I need to remember when I go out and enjoy the Greenway this summer, that this was the price paid for it.

Neat weather phenomenon alert 🚨 A lake breeze circulation formed around the vast expanse of flood waters along the Red River north of Grand Forks. Notice how a line of cumulus clouds forms just east of the "lake" and then treks east through the afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx

Watch the Northern Plains #snowmelt over the past week. Pierre, SD melted a foot of snow in 6 days, with daytime highs warming from 29˚ on Apr. 5 to *94˚* Tuesday. Fargo, ND melted 10" of #snow cover in 6 days, but still has a foot on the ground. #ndwx #sdwx

My every-shutdown vent that if they (the House) are gonna shut down government, they should be forced to shut it ALL down. All or nothing. Ground planes. Keep military in barracks or at home. Turn off weather radars. They'd learn to resolve their 💩 REALLY quick.

We had a special guest take our 1 pm snow observation today 🦖. Tiny arms didn't stop this T-Rex from measuring 4 inches still on the ground in Grand Forks, ND. He was happy to report no snow fell between 7 am and 1 pm, either. #ndwx #mnwx #HappyHalloween
