The WCJC baseball team played their first Fall 2024 home scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 18, against the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars. No official score was kept since this was a scrimmage.

WCJC's Allied Health Division wears pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Participants were Debbie Lutringer, Lori Baumgarten, Kelly Wallace, Carol Riley, Carol Derkowski, Sandra Davis, Victoria Schultz, Cylinda Konvicka, Wanda Taylor, Sharla Walker and Robin Matzke.

The WCJC library recently hosted a pumpkin decorating contest at the Wharton campus. Staff from the library, academic advising and TRiO SSS participated, with students choosing the winners.

The WCJC Pioneers volleyball team defeated Lee College, 3-1, on Oct. 24 to improve to 6-6 in conference and 9-8 overall. The Pioneers play their final home game tonight at 5 p.m. against Navarro College.

The WCJC Pioneers fell to nationally-ranked Navarro College, 0-3, on Oct. 29 in Wharton. WCJC is now 6-7 in conference and 9-9 overall. The Pioneers wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 2, against Trinity Valley Community College in Athens.

In celebration of Halloween, WCJC staff donned Minions costumes Thursday morning in the Wharton campus library. Participants included library staff, TRiO SSS representatives, academic advisors and students. Snacks and pizza were provided to students free of charge.

The WCJC Senior Citizens program held a Halloween party on Thursday at the LaDieu Technology Center on the Wharton campus. Program participants enjoyed refreshments and Bingo at the center, which was exquisitely decorated in a spooky theme.

The WCJC Pioneers volleyball team will head to Blinn College on Thursday for the Region XIV Tournament. The Pioneers enter the tournament as the 5th seed and will play their first game at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Games will be broadcast by TSBN Sports: tsbnsports.com

The WCJC rodeo team heads to Conroe tonight to compete in the Sam Houston State University Rodeo. The team hopes to repeat the success they had at the recent McNeese State University Rodeo, where WCJC's Amy Ohrt of Victoria finished as the top All-Around Cowgirl.

WCJC's Faith Family student club hosted Veterans Day events today at the Wharton and Richmond campuses. Students, faculty and staff joined veterans in prayer and a moment of silence. Veteran photos were also displayed on a Veterans Day Honor Wall at the Richmond campus.

In honor of Veterans Day, the WCJC Band is presenting the "America's Veterans" concert today in the Horton Foote Theatre on the Wharton campus. The first performance was at 3 p.m. A second performance will take place at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited.
