Show me a cropped field and I'll show you a native ecosystem that has been destroyed. It's how food is produced. To best protect nature: 1. Intensively produce crops on existing farmland, 2. Minimize off-farm effects, and 3. Rewild marginal farmland.

Congrats to Huron Soil and Crop for hosting an excellent Zoom presentation by Andrew McGuire at their AGM - and allowing outsiders like me to participate. Covid is a bad curse, but it has triggered wide usage of new communication technologies that will prevail long after covid's gone.

A big thank you to Vincent Acres for getting my oats planted today. The dust was flying and snow is in the forecast - a little late in April but perfect conditions.

Woody Van Arkel🧢 🇨🇦🌽🐖🚲🌞🍺 🌱 Dr. Lee Briese Dr. Abbey Wick Peter Johnson Certainly hard to find the balance point. If you aren't financially ahead in the game, eventually you will succumb to those that are, whether or not their methods are 'right' If you're successful enough to enjoy what you do, make a living & fulfill needs, what more do you need?

While out scouting soybeans today with a hoolahoop and spade this is what I found. Looks like some soybeans can find moisture better than others. The long root is 14.5 inches, 21 days growth.

One way to make a farmer happy: Have your local sheep farmer mob graze his flock on your multi species, strip-tilled cover crop. Win win for everyone.

The thing is... why is income from capital gains different than income from working a job at McDonalds? Why should rich people get that tax break? Now there could be a good reason but the wealthy had better communicate that good reason cause the average Joe doesn't understand.
