Microplastics are in embryos now and in every human body. This is probably a pretty good reason to cut down on plastic waste, and waste in general. Wasting resources is bad idea in every way.

Great to see a water refill station at a prominent and visible location at UFest Edmonton ! A great example of how infrastructure and planning can facilitate reusables and limit single-use waste.

On a hot summer day, access to water could prevent heat stroke or even save a life. In collaboration with EPCOR, the City is expanding its water bottle filling program to 27 locations across Edmonton.

This may seem like a no-brainer, but reuse your reusables! Use whatever bags you have, as many times as you can, and you’ll be making a difference—some reusable bags can have a positive environmental impact after as few as 11 uses. Learn more at edmonton.ca/SingleUse.

As of July 1, paper bags will cost 25 cents, and new reusable bags will cost $2. Using a tote bag is tote-ally awesome, and reusing a shopping bag is a reu-tiful idea. No matter what bag you use, BYOB and save the fee! edmonton.ca/SingleUse

Every year, 15 billion single-use bags & 1.6 billion single-use cups are used in Canada. These items are used for a few minutes and then can take hundreds of years to decompose. Edmontonians are cutting into these numbers every time they remember a reusable bag, cup or utensil!

Question #5: Edmonton’s single-use item bylaw bans plastic bags, straws, and utensils, charging fees for paper or reusable bags. Should it stay, be revised, or be scrapped? Why? 🗣️ Omar Mohammad: I’ll scrap the single-use item bylaw. It forces residents to buy “reusable” bags
